5 Places to Visit with kids in Fort Worth, Texas

Being the 5th largest city in Texas, you’ll find you’re never going to get bored in Fort Worth. This multi-cultural city is home to all kinds of adventures and activities! You can visit the zoo, art museum or take a stroll through the gardens. There’s always something fun to do in Fort Worth, Texas.

Fort Worth Zoo

Meet Some Animals at the Fort Worth Zoo.

The Fort Worth Zoo takes pride in educating us about the importance of conservation and animal care. The zoo is home to over 540 species of animals, including mammals, birds, and ectotherms. Here you’ll find a wide range of big cats like the prestigious African lion, cougars, and tigers. Apart from being open to the public during the day, the zoo hosts many different events throughout the year, which can be an adventure in itself. Some well-known events include a Night at the Zoo, field trips for kids, and educational programs for kids of all ages.

Take a Stroll Through the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

Established in 1934, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden is home to a diverse plant and floral species. Apart from its fauna, the garden also features a Rainforest Conservatory full of exotic plants, including a chocolate and coffee tree, coconut palm, orchids, and a wide range of herbs spices. After a long day strolling through the gardens, be sure to stop by the Rock Springs Cafe for a fresh garden-inspired lunch.

Go Back in Time at the Fort Worth Stockyards

If you’re a history fanatic, then a visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards is a must! The stockyards were created to house and market cattle during the 1800s and have been a point of interest of many tourists. Here you can pay a visit to the stockyards where cattle were auctioned or check out the White Elephant Saloon for a drink or two. Some awesome activities you can encounter include a cool cowboy gun flight reenactment or even consider jumping onto a mechanical bull for a ride!

Kimbell Art Museum

Immerse Yourself in Art at the Kimbell Art Museum

If you’re not too into bull riding and cowboy culture, you might find the Kimbell Art Museum a little more exciting. The museum itself features famous paintings, extravagant architecture, and unique sculptures that’ll bring out your inner creativity. Now and then, the museum hosts special exhibitions to entice and excite its visitors. As of 2021, the Kimbell Art Museum will be hosting a Queen Nefertari’s Egypt exhibit and a Buddha, Shiva, Lotus, Dragon exhibit featuring art from Asia.

Check out the Fort Worth Water Gardens

The serene Forth Worth Water Gardens is a true little gem hidden away in downtown Fort Worth. It’s a cozy little area where people can sit down for a read, meditate, or enjoy a good rest by the active and quiet pools. We love the Fort Worth Water Gardens as it allows you to escape from the loud city to unwind and relax.
